OilCamp UK Limited recently hosted a SOIL Capability Forum event exclusively for Oil and Gas Operators in the North Sea.
The event was held to highlight the full capabilities of the SOIL network, whilst presenting the Operators with a unique opportunity to discuss industry collaboration and communication in the North Sea. The attendees from Conoco Philips, Shell, BP, Talisman, BG Group and Total were shown solutions to common industry requirements including Integrated Operations, Disaster Recovery, Video Conferencing and 3rd Party Connections.
The highlight of the day was an impressive demonstration of SOIL’s new videoconferencing capabilities by John Aurlien of Conoco Phlllips Norge, who joined the forum via a video link to his Onshore Drilling Centre in Stavanger. His demonstration linked in offshore workers onboard the Ekofisk Platform, who, through the use of wireless handheld video systems, illustrated how Conoco use video to bring traditionally offshore activities onshore.
OilCamp’s videoconferencing solution SOIL Meeting, which enables secure and reliable video conferencing between companies using SOIL as the carrier, has been available in Norway for several months and has several companies, including Statoil, Hydro, Chevron, Conoco, Halliburton and Aker Kvaerner, using the solution. SOIL Meeting is now available in the UK.
Audrey Murray, OilCamp’s UK Sales Manager, comments “The day was a great success, and we will certainly look to continue this format over the coming months. We work extensively with the Oil and Gas Industry in Norway to develop common services such as SOIL Meeting, and this forum was the first step in engaging the industry on collaboration issues on this side of the continental shelf. The video element in particular was fascinating for the attendees, so we will certainly look to provide further demonstrations on this unique service in the very near future”
OilCamp have over 170 companies registered to the SOIL network, which now has access portals in the UK and Norway. OilCamp focuses on constantly improving the network by providing tools for collaboration.
