The SOIL Network

Companies often need information that is stored on the intranets of their partners, suppliers or customers. SOIL (Secure Oil Information Link) is a fully managed, member’s only network hub which enables collaboration partners to cost effectively share and exchange information with guaranteed speed, reliability and security, over a North Sea wide network.

The Oil & Gas Industry’s Own Extranet

The SOIL Network was first introduced in Norway in 1998, and quickly became an established communication tool. The network has since expanded to Aberdeen and is now available as a North Sea wide network. Today, the network boasts over 170 companies are registered users, and has expanded to include a wide range of collaboration services.

Why SOIL?

All clients registered to the SOIL network communicate with one another via one hub, not by building a point to point bridge to every partner, making communication between companies considerably easier. The network also uses the latest technology so that with SOIL you don’t need to specify who you want to connect to, pay for any changes or wait days while the changes take affect.  The network supports wide range of bandwidths from Kbps to Gbps, in order to support high bandwidth applications.

SOIL is also more than just a network.  A connection to SOIL provides access to a vast range of industry wide applications and tools designed to aid collaboration

Why not use the Internet?

Unlike using the internet to transfer data, SOIL is extremely reliable and secure. With SOIL you have guaranteed bandwidth and it is always available (in fact our average uptime is 99.97%) and as it is a closed network for the Oil and Gas Industry only, it is extremely secure.
